Reactor in Rez offers the following research:

  • Material research reactors for II. and III. generation: :
    • Radiation embrittlement, corrosion, crack 
    • Testing of construction materials – steel, concrete, fuel cladding
    • Lifetime extensions, power increase and fuel burnout
  • Material research for GEN IV reactors and fusion:
    • Radiation testing and corrosion resistance of structural materials and fuel cladding in terms of new reactors – high temperature and highly corrosive environments 
  • Reactor physics:
    • Critical experiments, reactor kinetics
    • Neutron spectroscopy and dosimetry,  reactor shielding
  • Neutron physics:
    • Neutron activation analysis
    • Neutron scattering
    • Neutron diffraction
    • Neutronography
  • Medical applications:
    • Radiobiology including boron capture therapy
    • Radioisotopes for diagnosis and therapy purposes
  • Other:
    • Teaching and training students, training of nuclear and non-nuclear experts
    • Radiation resistance fine structures – electronic components, nanomaterials

Outcomes research infrastructure include both participation in publication activities as well as applied results like proven methodologies and functional samples.
